The show’s explosive season 1 finale saw James running from the police before an ominous gunshot went off and left James’ fate up in the air. Many thought the show could have actually ended there but, mercifully, TEOTFW was granted a second season.

TEOTFW received praise for its performances and writing and was considered one of the year’s best dramas, but while it maintained the edge of Forsman’s source material, it was helped by an injection of black humor. The first season was reasonably faithful to the graphic novel though it ended on a more ambiguous note.

It’s been two years since James and Alyssa landed themselves in some serious hot water at the end of season 1 and the suspense is killing us. The first series began filming in April 2017 and concluded a few weeks before the show’s release in October 2017. Episodes were filmed largely in suburban areas and across Surrey, with locations such as Guildford bus station, The Square shopping centre in Camberley, Woking and Longcross Studios. There was also some scenes in Bracknell in Berkshire. Another filming location was Leysdown-on-Sea on the Isle of Sheppey. Entwistle uses mostly close-up shots, particularly in early episodes where most frames feature only one character. He uses this for deadpan humour, by moving from face to face to get shots of characters’ reactions.

Yep, it looks like season two is The End of the F***ing World after all , or at least it is for the show’s protagonist’s James (Alex Lawther) and Alyssa (Jessica Barden). The reason, Covell explains, is that she doesn’t want to fall into the classic pitfall of stretching too much out of something that was meant to stay tightly wrapped.
