In a recent social media post-Outback Opal Hunters said the “much-loved” Selig will be fondly remembered, confirming the death.“We are saddened to inform you that Ron Selig has passed away,” the statement said.“Ron was a much-loved member of the Outback Opal Hunters family. A great character and amazing opal hunter, always chasing that color.“We will always fondly remember Ron.”Mr. Selig’s daughter Mel, using her father’s Facebook account, thanked the show and its fans for the outpouring of support.“We thank you all so very much for your loving kindness and condolences,” she said.“The loss of our father, Ron, has been the most challenging time for me and our whole family.“Ron was the most amazing, sensational son, father, grandfather, and friend to all.“Dad was a kind, caring, and fun-loving man, who always would come out with the funniest jokes! Ron was an easygoing guy too!”He appeared across several seasons on the Channel Seven show, mining in the Opalton area of Queensland. A funeral was held on December 20 on the Sunshine Coast.
