Trintignant’s difficult childhood was thought to explain his willingness to succeed in difficult roles, including thugs and criminals, over the course of a career spanning more than six decades.

According to his wife, he died in the early hours of Friday (June 17) in the southern Gard region surrounded by loved ones.
However, his third wife, Marianne Hoepfner, with whom he had spent the last two decades, did not reveal the cause of his death. As a couple, they never had children together.
