Former Queensland State of Origin halfback and professional rugby league football coach Paul Gregory Green passed away on August 11, 2022, in Australia.
He participated in matches for the Brisbane Broncos, Sydney Roosters, Parramatta Eels, North Queensland Cowboys, and Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks. At the age of 49, Green passed away unexpectedly on the morning of August 11 in his home in Brisbane.
Who is Paul Green’s wife Amanda Green?
Amanda Green has always been a supportive pillar behind the late successful rugby coach. According to her, the 2015 season was an “emotional rollercoaster.”
“It has been a little bit crazy this week but so exciting. You see all the hard work that goes into so it will just mean so much if they can pull it off this weekend. I just feel really confident and I’m incredibly proud,” she said.
Green moved with John Lang, his Easts coach, to Sydney’s Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks in 1994. He followed up his impressive first season in 1995 by winning the prestigious ARL Rothmans Medal for the best and fairest player.
Prior to playing three Super League Tri-series games for Queensland as a replacement, Green was chosen as a reserve for Australia in the 1997 ANZAC Test.
He only played in four games in 1998 due to a major shoulder injury after missing just one game over the previous four seasons.
The Queensland Residents, a representative squad made up of the top coaches and players from the Queensland Cup competition, hired Green as their head coach in 2012.
During this time, he won back-to-back premierships with feeder team Wynnum Manly.
While Green’s NYC team advanced to the Under 20s competition’s preliminary round, the Sydney Roosters won the 2013 NRL championship.
