Born on July 26, 1980, Jacinda Kate Laurell Ardern is a New Zealand politician. She has been New Zealand’s 40th prime minister and leader of the Labour Party since 2017. Since 2017, she has served as Mount Albert’s Member of Parliament (MP).
In anticipation of a leadership election, Ardern announced her resignation as Labour leader and prime minister on January 19, 2023.
After being born in Hamilton, Ardern spent his childhood in Murupara and Morrinsville. After graduating from the University of Waikato in 2001, Ardern worked as a researcher in the office of Prime Minister Helen Clark. She continued her career in London as an adviser in the Cabinet Office during Tony Blair’s tenure as premier.
