Tyrese Maxey is a skilled American professional basketball player with the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association.

Tyrese Maxey was born on November 4, 2000, in Garland, Texas, the United States to parents: Tyrone Maxey and Denise Maxey. His father Tyrone was a college basketball player for the Washington State Cougars and had been the director of player development for Southern Methodist University.

Tyrese Maxey has three sisters namely Denasia, Talia, and Keiara. He was the winner of a national championship with his Amateur Athletic Association (AAU) team while he was in the sixth grade.

Tyrese Maxey attended South Garland High School where was a shooting guard. He was named to the United States men’s national under-19 basketball team for the 2018 FIBA Under-18 Americas Championship in Canada.

Tyrese Maxey was considered a five-star recruit and has been rated No. 14 in the country by Rivals.com. He later signed a National Letter of Intent with the University of Kentucky in November 2018.

Tyrese Maxey was selected 21st overall by the Philadelphia 76ers with their first-round pick in the 2020 NBA draft.

Maxey’s father, Tyrone has also been an 11-year high school head coach. He later worked in the 2017-18 season as Player Development Director for SMU’s men’s basketball team. However, not much is known about his mother, Denise Maxey.
