Sam Mayer is a professional American stock car racing driver. He competes fully in the NASCAR Xfinity Series as he drives the Chevrolet Camaro number 1 for JR Motorsports, the team, and its development driver through their Drivers Edge Development program.

Mayer is the 2019 and 2020 East Series champions. He drove GMS Racing both those years with their car number 21 and won the first ARCA Menards Series Sioux Chief Showdown 2020 title.

He began his NASCAR career driving Jefferson Pitts Racing and MDM Motorsports in 2018 before joining GMS, JRM, and Chevrolet as a development driver in 2019.

In October, Mayer won the 2019 K&N East tournament to become the youngest NASCAR champion in 16 years, three months, and eight days; the previous record was 16 years and five months by Todd Gilliland in 2016. He finished the 2019 season with four wins and top ten in one race.
