American activist and former college instructor Rachel Dolezal is well-known for portraying herself as a black woman while being the child of white parents. 

The Dolezal scandal sparked a racial identity discussion on a national scale in the US.

Dolezal’s detractors charged her with fraud and cultural appropriation, but she insisted that her self-identification was real. In Full Color: Finding My Place in a Black and White World is the title of Dolezal’s memoir on her racial identity, published in 2017.

Rachel talks about how she identified as black even as a young child, even though she didn’t encounter a black person until she was 10. When she was 17, she had the chance to spend her summer vacation working for a friend’s greeting card business.

The former president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, a single mother who runs a hair braiding and art gallery in Spokane, Washington, is responsible for raising her children alone.

However, Dolezal had a troubled marriage in the past with Kevin Moore. That didn’t turn out well, and in 2004, the couple divorced. Following that, Rachel began dating Mississippi-born artist Maurice Turner, who even made mushy music videos for her.

In December 2012, the two also announced their engagement, but Rachel broke it off in February 2013. After Kevin and Maurice, Rachel fell in love with a military member, but their relationship only caused her misery and grief.

During the pride month of June 2019, Rachel became bisexual on social media. She stated that she was not in a rush to look into romantic relationships and that her main priority was to obtain a stable career that would allow her to pay for her children’s schooling.
