J.C. Jackson attended Immokalee High School, where he played high school football. He was considered a four-star recruit coming out of high school, and was ranked as the 20th-best wide receiver in the class of 2014 by 247Sports.
After high school, he committed to playing football at the University of Florida for the Florida Gators.
He was arrested for ties to a robbery and following his acquittal, he transferred to Riverside City College. While there, he received interest from college teams including the University of Michigan and Penn State.
He later transferred to the University of Maryland.
He went undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft. On May 11, 2018, he was signed by the New England Patriots to a three-year, $1.72 million contract that includes a signing bonus of $10,000.
