Cowan helped establish the Leland R. Cowan Cancer Clinic where he worked as a radiation therapist for almost four decades. While contributing nearly 40 years to treating cancer patients, Cowan, the 94-year-old doctor, MD, left the world on June 23, 2022.

Dr. Leland Cowan was a general surgery specialist in Salt Lake City with over 69 years of experience in the medical field. Born in 1928, the cause of his death was not disclosed but is speculated to be a natural cause.

As the words felt short while mourning for his passing away, the family of Cowan has been receiving uncountable condolences and heartfelt prayers.

In 1965, along with his father, Salt Lake City-based surgical oncologist started his practice. The father-son duo teamed up for ten years when they were regarded as two of the most renowned doctors for their intense work schedules, rigorous after-care, and dedication to their patients.

While Leland’s father passed away from cancer in 1976, Dr. Cowan helped in establishing Leland R. Cowan Cancer Clinic, in an honor of his late father, and there, he worked as a radiation therapist for almost 40 years until he left the world four days ago.

As aforementioned, the cause of death or mention of any illness has not been disclosed to the media, yet. Having lived for slightly more than 94 years, the brilliant doctor found his way up in the clouds as he always wanted to be a pilot.

The son of Leland Cowan, Lee Cowan is also a renowned personality in Journalism.

He is an Emmy-award-winning news reporter/anchor who has been working with CBS. Lee graduated in 1988 from the University of Washington acquiring a double degree in communications and voice communication.

The 57-year-old news reporter was born in Salt Lake City and married Molly Palmer. The death of his father has shattered Lee and his entire family to the core, as he lost his mother, the wife of Leland Cowan in 2020.

Leland Cowan Wikipedia Family And Tribute

Having a dream of becoming a pilot, in the year 1955, Cowan was enlisted in the US Air Force as a Medical Officer. Even though it was not the field of his primary choice, he performed his duty actively at the Tripler Army Medical Center on Oahu and later on Johnston Island.

It is the same place where he met the love of his life, Constance June Walters, a licensed practical nurse working in Lenox Hill Hospital. Back then, Dr. Cowan has just graduated from Columbia Medical School, and after some time, the couple got married in Honolulu, Hawaii.

With his death, Cowan leaves behind his two sons, Molly, his daughter-in-law, and his two grandchildren, Kevin and Harrison. Leland’s funeral ceremony is announced to be in St. Mark’s Cathedral on June 27 at 11 a.m.

As the family expects all the loved ones at the funeral for their prayers and tributes, it is suggested that the donation be sent to the American Cancer Society instead of bringing flowers.
