Popular Iceland singer, Bjork left the United States even though she was having a very successful career there. After releasing her album “Utopia,” she decided to move back to her home country Iceland for safety and security reasons. Some of the reasons also included the COVID-19 pandemic which was followed by serious violence in the United States.

“The violence in the USA is on scale, I can’t even fathom. And having a daughter that’s half-American in school (New York), 40 minutes away from Sandy Hook (referring to the school shooting in Connecticut). In the States, just being a simple islander, all the violence was just too much for me,” she said.

Bjork vs Paparazzi

What did Bjork do to the paparazzi? In 1996, Bjork arrived at Bangkok International Airport, and before her arrival, she had shared that the media should leave her and her son alone until they all meet at the press conference. However, a paparazzi called Julie Kaufman met her at the airport and said, “Welcome to Bangkok!” Bjork angrily shoved her to the floor, banging her head against the concrete floor until security was called. However, Kaufman refused to press charges against her.
