Virginia LuPone is the wife of Robert LuPone, an American actor, artistic director and founder of the off-Broadway MCC Theatre.
Virginia LuPone (born Virginia Rae Robinson) and Robert were married for years until his death on August 27, 2022. They had one son.
There’s not much known about LuPone’s wife.
LuPone’s death was confirmed by the MCC Theater in a statement released on Saturday to the Associated Press.
LuPone’s Broadway performances included A Thousand Clowns (2001), True West (2000), A View from the Bridge (1997), Late Nite Comic (1987), Saint Joan (1977), and The Magic Show (1974).
For his performance as Zach in A Chorus Line (1976), he was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical. As artistic director of MCC Theater in New York City, he produced Frozen (2004) and Reasons To Be Pretty (2008), both of which were nominated for the Tony Award for Best Play.
LuPone was in the Chicago premiere of Sam Shepard’s “The Tooth of Crime and on TV was in “Sex and the City,” Guiding Light,” and “All My Children,” for which he received a Daytime Emmy nomination.
