Toya Owens Died In Monday Fatal Vehicle Jaguar Crash

Katoya Leasa Owens, of Lawrence, Kansas, has been identified as the victim in the Monday morning fatal vehicle crash in Douglas County.

Early on Monday morning in Lawrence, a two-vehicle collision claimed the life of 39-year-old “Toya” Owens. In the collision, Lawrence, Kansas, resident John Grant Redding sustained significant injuries.

According to reports, about 1:50 a.m. on Monday, Owens was driving a Nissan Maxima on West 6th Street near Iowa Street in Lawrence when the car collided with Grant’s 36-year-old Jaguar S30.

Owens, who was stuck inside the car, was found dead at the scene from blunt force trauma injuries.

Redding was transported to an area hospital with serious unknown injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
