Thomas Hartwell Obituary, Funeral Details

Sheriff Ron Hain said on Thursday that Thomas Hartwell, a former Kane County Circuit Clerk, had committed suicide.

At 10 on Thursday morning, Hartwell had gone missing. Later, according to Hain, his body was discovered at his Palatine legal firm.

Last month, Hartwell was charged with a number of offenses. He was charged with embezzling more than $100,000 in taxpayer money while he was in office.
