Sidney Olson Obituary, 5-Year-Old Girl Hit by Tractor-Trailer

After being struck by a tractor-trailer on Tuesday at a busy crossroads in Andover, Massachusetts, a 5-year-old girl has died.

According to NBC-10 Boston, the Essex County District Attorney’s Office identified the youngster as Sidney Mae Olson.

Olsen’s family claimed in a statement received by PEOPLE that they were traveling on Main Street to attend an art class at the time of the collision. Olson sought to cross Elm Street with a member of his family because the crosswalk sign indicated that it was still safe to do so.

We’ve taken that trip countless times before as long-time residents of the area. The rest of the event was a blur, and Sidney was killed after being run over by a truck, leaving an impossibly large hole in our lives, the statement said.
