SFC. James Lasher Passes Away, the NCOIC of the Caisson Platoon

Southern Indiana man killed in Scott County car accident.
On Tuesday, just after 3:30 p.m., Sergeant Spencer from the Sellersburg Post received a call regarding a potential collision on South Boatman Road, which is located just south of West Lake Road. An Apple Watch’s automated alarm alerted authorities to the probable disaster.
Following an inquiry, Sergeant Spencer reported that a grey 2014 Chevrolet Cruze, was travelling south on Boatman Road. The car left the east side of the road, crossed the northbound lane, and struck a tree for an unexplained cause.
48-year-old James C. Lasher of Underwood, Indiana, was taken to Scott County Memorial Hospital after becoming unresponsive. Sadly, Mr. Lasher was declared dead shortly after.
The crash may have been caused by a medical incident, according to investigators. Notification has been sent to the deceased’s family.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Department, the Vienna and Scottsburg Fire Departments, and the Scott County EMS all provided assistance during the collision.
“It is with great sadness that we share that SFC James Lasher, NCOIC of our Caisson Platoon, passed away yesterday, 31 October 2023. SFC Lasher has been an integral member and leader for the Caisson Platoon and the Ceremonial Unit. This is a tremendous loss for us but obviously more for his family,” Military Department of Indiana Ceremonial Unit – Indiana National Guard wrote in a Facebook post.
