A double homicide that occurred in Cleveland earlier this week resulted in the deaths of Dushawn Sweeney and a 17-year-old teenager.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office reported that the event, which happened at 1374 West Blvd., claimed the lives of Dushawn Sweeney, 41, and Izaiah Cooper, 17. Both victims were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center on Wednesday; Cooper was declared dead that day, while Sweeney was declared dead the next day.
Officers from Cleveland Police arrived at 1347 West Boulevard at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in response to reports of a male shot. Officers arrived and discovered the first victim lying wounded on the floor of the apartment complex. The second victim, who had sustained a leg gunshot wound, was discovered lying down on the pavement in front of 1367 West Blvd.
According to early findings, both individuals were shot inside the apartment complex at 1347 West Boulevard. Drugs were found at the scene, and a gun was found close to the second victim.
The incident, which is being looked into as a homicide, has not resulted in any arrests.
