Veale, 43, of Camelot Dr., Negaunee, died on Friday, February 26, 2021, at UP Health System Marquette from Myotonic Dystrophy complications.

He was surrounded not just by his father and sister, but by a large group of people. Robbie (also known as Bert, Robbie Jr., Captain, Basketball Bob, “No Fish,” or Little Robbie) was born in Green Bay on May 31, 1977, to Nathan P. and Susan M. (Jennings) Veale and graduated from Negaunee High School in 1996.

Robbie worked at Econo Foods, Tino’s Bar & Pizza, and Goodwill Industries after graduating. Robbie loved spending time with his family and friends, no matter what the activity or purpose for the gathering, but his favorite place to be was at camp on Mehl Lake, in the pontoon boat, and around the bonfire. He was a die-hard Miner supporter who could routinely be seen and heard from “his spot” chanting for the Maize and Blue. Robbie was a member of the Negaunee Male Chorus as well as the Mitchell United Methodist Church (Marquette Hope).

Robbie’s road has been long and difficult, but because he has never walked it alone, he has brought love to those around him, experienced love from so many people, and made wonderful memories along the way. His father, Nathan P. Veale; his sister, Heather (Greg) Toutant; his niece and nephew, Faith and Preston Toutant; his paternal grandmother, Ada Veale; his aunts and uncles, Russell (Mary) Veale, Linda (Kurt) Prond, Brian (Brenda) Veale, Randy (Diane) Veale, and Diane Jennings all died before he was born. Many people admired him. He always decided to accept others without prejudice, to prefer peace over fury, and to be included while also including others.
