Molly Ringwald is an American actress, author, and singer. She is the daughter of Robert Ringwald and Adele Edith Frembd.
Molly Ringwald’s mother Adele Edith was a chef and her father was blind jazz pianist Robert Scott “Bob” Ringwald of German descent. Ringwald has two younger sisters, Beth and Kelly, as well as an older brother who died before she was born.
She is of Swedish ancestry. At the age of five, she made her stage debut as the Dormouse in a production of Alice in Wonderland. The following year, she recorded “I Wanna Be Loved by You,” a Dixieland jazz music album with her father and his group, the Fulton Street Jazz Band.
Molly Ringwald became famous in the 1980s for her roles in several popular teen films, including “Sixteen Candles” (1984), “The Breakfast Club” (1985), and “Pretty in Pink” (1986).
In addition to her acting career, Ringwald has pursued other creative endeavours. She has written two books, “Getting the Pretty Back” (2010) and “When It Happens to You” (2012), and is an accomplished jazz singer, having released several albums.
Molly Ringwald has also continued to act in films and television shows, including a recurring role on “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” (2008-2013) and a guest spot on “Riverdale” (2017).
