Her family announced the news in a statement. According to reports, Quant, 93, passed away quietly on April 13 in the early hours at her home in Surrey, a county in southern England.

The fashion icon was born in 1930 in south-east London, where she also met her husband, Alexander Plunket-Greene, while earning a degree in painting.

Quant and Plunket-Greene established their own store, Bazaar, on London’s King’s Road in the heart of Chelsea in 1955. They were known for their “play clothes,” knee-high boots, Mod-era eyeliner, and geometric hairstyle, thanks to Vidal Sassoon.
