Michael DeWayne Tait (born May 18, 1966) is a Christian music musician who specialises in modern Christian music. The late 1980s saw Michael Tait meet Toby McKeehan and Kevin Max while attending Liberty University. The three of them went on to create the four-time Grammy-winning band DC Talk, with whom he produced five critically acclaimed studio albums over the course of a decade. Tait is the current main vocalist of Newsboys, as well as a member of the Christian rock band DC Talk, which he founded (though the group has been on hiatus since 2001). Tait has also achieved success in his solo endeavours, having formed a band named Tait in 1997. Until 2007, he performed as a solo artist. After joining the Christian pop rock band Newsboys in 2009, he sang lead vocals on their 2009 album In the Hands of God, despite the fact that Peter Furler had been the band’s main singer from the beginning of the project. Aside from singing, Tait is also a self-taught guitarist who performs with his band. Besides his sister, Lynda Randle, a Southern Gospel singer, Tait has a brother named David Randle.
