Mel King Wife: Was Mel King Married?

Mel King was married to his wife, Joyce King in 1951. They remained married until his death on March 28, 2023.

There isn’t much information about Joyce King on the internet as she loved to be away from the spotlight.

Her husband was famous as one who was active in creating community programs and institutions for low-income people in the city and was the founder of the South End Technology Centre.

At the time of his death, he held the position of Senior Lecturer Emeritus at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in their Department of Urban Studies and Planning.

Upon his retirement from MIT, King established the South End Technology Centre to provide computer training for low-income people. In 2021, an intersection in Boston’s South End was named Melvin H. “Mel King Square” in his honour.
