Riley Greene, the American professional baseball outfielder, plays for the Major League Baseball team Detroit Tigers.

He debuted in the Gulf Coast League for the rookie-level Tigers in June 2019.

Later in July, he was promoted to the Class A-Short Season New York-Penn League’s Connecticut Tigers, then to the Class A Midwest League’s West Michigan Whitecaps in August.

Greene was selected fifth overall in the 2019 MLB draft and made his MLB debut in 2022. He signed a contract with the Tigers on June 5 that included a $6.18 million signing bonus.

Greene is in his first major-league camp this year, and his baseball education is still ongoing.

Riley Greene’s Baseball Inspiration, His Parents

Riley was born on September 28, 2000, as the youngest child of Alan and Lisa Greene.

His father, Alan, is a professional baseball hitting instructor and is the primary source of his inspiration in the field of baseball.

Riley first became interested in the sport when his grandmother bought him a set of right-handed golf clubs. His father saw it as an opportunity rather than taking the clubs back.

Later in high school, Riley displayed a talent for baseball, and his father knew just how to groom his son’s unique talent.

Riley was taught to use his muscle memory to swing the bat with his right hand despite being left-handed. He also bowls using his right hand.

With years of practice and his father’s coaching, Greene has become one of the best hitting prospects in baseball.

Meet the Outfielder’s Family

Riley’s family consists of his parents, Alan and Lisa, and an older sister Miranda.

The family lives in their home in Oviedo, Florida, where he has spent years honing his baseball skills.

His father, Alan, has a long history in baseball and was a remarkable baseball player in Oviedo. He got named player of the year in Seminole County and played at Central Florida Community College in the hopes of getting drafted sooner.

At Florida Tech University, Alan helped his team to the Division II World League Series. However, his playing days were over after he developed bursitis on his shoulder. Later, he started working on baseball camps for Chet Lemon, which opened a path for him to give his private lessons.

His sister is a Softball alumnus of Daytona State College, Florida. She also represents the health sciences alum of the University of Central Florida. Along with that, she has a passion for cooking and shares her unique recipes through her Instagram @mirs.cooking, which is private.

There isn’t much personal information about his mother, Lisa. She is often seen on the field with her husband, supporting her son’s endeavors.

Greene’s Ethnicity

Greene is American by nationality. Based on his appearance, he seems like he has mixed ethnicity as his mother somehow resembles to be Black.

Both his parents have American nationality and have always lived in the States.

He was born and raised in Oveido, Florida, where he has spent most of his life.
