Marg Helgenberger is a well-known American actress. Marg Helgenberger was born in Fremont, Nebraska, on November 16, 1958, to Mary Kay, a nurse, and Hugh Helgenberger, a meat inspector.

She grew up in North Bend, Nebraska, and graduated from North Bend Central High School.

Marg Helgenberger is of Irish and German ancestry and was raised Roman Catholic. In her high school marching band, Helgenberger played the French horn.

Helgenberger aspired to be a nurse like her mother before the University of Nebraska at Kearney in Kearney, Nebraska, and then Northwestern University’s School of Speech (now the School of Communication) in Evanston, Illinois, where she earned a B.S. diploma in speech and drama.

Marg Helgenberger began her career in the early 1980s and rose to prominence as Siobhan Ryan on the daytime soap opera Ryan’s Hope from 1982 to 1986.

She is best known for her roles as Catherine Willows in the CBS police procedural drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (2000-13) and Immortality (2015).

In January 2012, she was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her contributions to television.
