A founding member of War, an American funk band active throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Leroy “Lonnie” Jordan (born November 21, 1948, in San Diego, California) has passed away. As a musician, Jordan has played a variety of instruments, including guitar, piano, synthesiser, and percussion. Jordan has performed in a number of bands throughout the years. After the organization’s creation, he was one of the first three individuals to join it, and he did so before the group chose the moniker “War” (it had previously been known as “the Creators” and “Nightshift”). With MCA in 1977 and Boardwalk in 1982, Jordan released his first solo albums as a solo artist. Besides Eric Burdon and Tanya Tucker, he has worked with T. Rex and Los Lobos, among other musicians.
