She was born Linda Ann Moulton in Boise, Idaho, where she won the 1963 Miss Idaho crown and then entered the Miss American 1964 pageant in Atlanta City. She is a graduate of the University of Colorado with a B.A cum laude in English Literature.

Next year, in 1966, she received the Stanley Baubaire Scholarship to complete her Master’s Degree at Sanford University in Palo Alto, California. Extremely endowed, Linda earned her master’s degree in Communication in 1988.

Her father, late Chet Moulton served as Idaho’s Director of Aeronautics (1946-1971) & was the recipient of numerous aviation honors.
