Linda Greenblatt Obituary, Retired Social Studies Teacher

On March 18, 2023, Linda Althea Greenblatt, 73, a lifelong resident of Red Hook, New York, passed away at Treasure Cove Hospice in Stuart, Florida.

She was the late Ernest and Ruth (Meisner) Koberlein’s daughter and was born in Callicoon, New York, on March 29, 1949. On June 1, 1969, Linda wed Jay M. Greenblatt; Jay is still alive and resides in Red Hook.

At SUNY New Paltz, Linda received her BS in 1971 and her MA in Education in 1974. She was employed by Red Hook Middle School and Red Hook High School as a history and social studies instructor. Linda was a prominent member of the educational fraternity Delta Kappa Gamma. Linda was involved in her neighborhood and a part of the Red Hook Rotary and the Red Hook Antique Car Club and the Society for the Detection & Apprehension of Horse Thieves. Politically astute, Linda worked for the Dutchess County Board of Elections for many years as an election supervisor. Linda loved spending her vacations boating on Lake George, in addition to her family and many local interests.

On Thursday, March 23, 2023, from 4 to 7 pm, friends may pay their respects at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes in Red Hook.

On March 24, 2023, at 11 am, there will be funeral services at the funeral house. Stephen Ernst, a pastor, will preside. In Red Hook’s St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, there will be a burial.
