According to US media, You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling’s prolific lyricist Cynthia Weil passed away at the age of 82.
Jenn Mann, her daughter, informed TMZ that her mother passed away on Thursday night.
According to Ms. Mann, she was “the best mother, grandmother, and wife our family could ever ask for.” She was a role model for women in music, my dearest friend, my confidante, and my partner in crime.
There was no mention of Weil’s cause of death.
On Broadway, Make Your Own Kind of Music, Walking in the Rain, and Uptown are just a few of the popular tunes that the Grammy winner is renowned for.
Biography
She gained notoriety in the 1960s when she and her long-term partner Barry Mann, to whom she was married for 62 years, co-wrote a number of successful songs.
They became composing collaborators after meeting while employed at the Manhattan Brill Building song factory. Around this period, they worked with producer Phil Spector on a number of albums; Spector would go on to become well-known decades later for the 2003 murder of Lana Clarkson.
One day, Weil and Mann would rank among the top songwriters of their time.
