The following year, he made his film debut with the satirical comedy 'Wet Hot American Summer'. Released in 2010, the film focuses on a group of youngsters living on a street, who are murdered in their dreams by a strange man. A year later, Gallner played Jared in ‘Red State’. His performance in the independent horror thriller earned him a Fright Meter Award nomination.In 2012, Gallner earned appreciation for his work in the TV drama ‘Jan’ and in the drama flick 'Smashed'. Two years later, he appeared as himself in the comedy web television series ‘Play It Again, Dick’. Also in 2014, he starred in ‘Dear White People’, a comedy drama flick focusing on the escalating racial tensions at a fictional college.
