Jacob Andrew Jochum Died in Car Accident, Reitz High School student-athlete

Jacob Andrew Jochum died in a single-vehicle crash on the West Side of Evansville was revealed by the Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office on Sunday.
Chief Deputy Coroner David Anson released the driver’s identity as 20-year-old Jacob Andrew Jochum in a press release on Monday.
Anson said that Jochum died from “multiple blunt force trauma injuries” he sustained in the collision, which took place at around 3:45 a.m. in the 5600 block of Upper Mount Vernon Road.
According to a press release from the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, responding deputies spotted Jochum’s Nissan Titan pickup truck stuck against a tree on the east side of the road.
It was said that Jochum was stuck inside the truck.
“According to the press release, “deputies and the Perry Township Fire Department performed life-saving measures but were ultimately unsuccessful.”
On arrival, it was determined that (Jochum) had passed away.”

Sheriff’s deputies speculated that the truck had been speeding before it ran off the road, collided with a power pole, and finally came to a stop against the tree.
The sheriff’s office in Vanderburgh County says they are still looking into the fatal collision.
