Microsoft has announced that Halo Infinite will support multiplayer cross-play and cross-progression across PC (on Microsoft Store and Steam), Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Announced on Xbox Wire, the move is being pitched by Microsoft as a way of “building communities around games, not devices”, and will see customisation and game progress follow you across all platforms, as well as let you play with anyone on any available platform.
Absolutely, yes. Halo Infinite will have cross-play across Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. You’ll be able to play multiplayer with your friends regardless of the system they own, and because the competitive multiplayer component is free, that means you can easily jump between platforms if you want to try out PC and console.

You might want to jump from console to PC or upgrade from Xbox One to Xbox Series X – so, losing your progression would be quite a big deal given the fact that Halo Infinite is going to make the most of a Battle Pass system going forwards.
I can confirm on my own accord. That playing on Steam compared to the Xbox app on windows is way better with less lag, closing and opening, etc.. Plus if you compare opening Halo Infinite on Steam to Xbox. It loads much faster. PC wise. Sounds like a computer setup issue to me lol i have the msft store version, opens instantly.
It’s always possible that cross-saves could be enabled on Steam at a later date, but 343 has yet to confirm or deny this possibility. There’s a good amount of stuff to do in Halo Infinite’s campaign.
