Chesney’s musical career officially began with the independent Capricorn Records label’s April 1994 release of his debut album, In My Wildest Dreams.

The album’s opening two hits, “Whatever It Takes” and “The Tin Man,” only sold approximately 10,000 copies combined, but later that year Capricorn Records closed its Nashville-based country music branch and relocated to Atlanta.

The next year, All I Need to Know, Chesney’s second studio album, was released by BNA Records. The album’s three singles, including “Fall in Love” and the title track, both made their Top 10 debuts.

Another album single, “Grandpa Told Me So,” charted at number 23. In the same year, Chesney and Confederate Railroad worked together on the song “When He Was My Age” on the album When and Where.

In All I Need to Know, Chesney emphasized the traditional elements and his characteristic Tennessee twang by using steel and fiddle instruments. Chesney’s popularity increased as a result of this album’s success in capturing the essence of country music.
