On Facebook, Jeff Uhlemyer explained
I am very shocked and saddened upon hearing about the passing yesterday in the middle of the night of my friend and fellow MTC/Allen Herschel train enthusiast Greg Rhomberg, a very successful business owner here in the Affton/Lemay area, farm owner, and premier antique collector; They always with kind words and were down to earth in the 22 years, I knew him. I first met Greg in the summer of 2000 when he came downtown to Union Station where I was operating my MTC miniature train ride for kids. We became “train friends” since and shared some great “train times over the years! Greg was the only person I ever trusted to let take and borrow my amusement park train ride to use at his annual Antique Warehouse Open House back in 2005 and 2006.
I’ve attached some photos from Greg’s Open House in 2005 (me taking my old MTC G-12 #141 for a spin) and photos and video clips from when Greg & I went to the 2007 Miniature Railroad Convention. We took a ride on American Heritage Museum’s MTC G-16 and Greg rode co-engineer on one of the larger diesel locomotives.
My sincere sympathies to Greg’s family and friends and those who had the privilege of knowing him. RIP my friend.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to the deceased’s family and friends, who have been struggling with the loss of such an intelligent and compassionate individual.
