The grocery store worker in Colorado who was dismissed for recording a bunch of criminals making a messy getaway with hundreds of dollars’ worth of laundry products claimed on Thursday that he was only carrying out a “direct order” and is “devastated” by his dismissal.

Santino Burrola had followed three men into the parking lot of the King Soopers store last month and filmed them with his cellphone as they stuffed roughly $500 worth of stolen laundry products into a car and drove away.

He was fired the following day. He learned he had been dismissed a week later.

Former military police officer Burrola told Fox News, “I was given a direct order by the third person in charge to get the licence plate, and my initial reaction was to record.”

“You know, better evidence, to get their faces, description of the vehicle, and number plate number.”

The three robbers are seen stumbling to load their loot from a full cart into the back of a black Chevy Trax in a video that Burrola shared on TikTok of the crime.

Hi my name is Alexia, I’m building this fundraiser for my cousin Santino Burrola. He is the man in the video who captured criminals in action and was fired from his position for doing so. As a former military police officer, he did what he thought was right in order to capture criminals. So far one arrest has been made out of the three criminals and the authorities are still searching for the other two individuals. He was not given severance pay and is planning to move to Florida to be closer to his family. These donations will help him with his move to Florida, and cover any legal fees if needed. Hopefully, companies there can appreciate his good act. I am also helping him look for any attorney recommendations to see if he has a case and if any legal action can be taken. I have attached a couple of news articles explaining the situation.
