The body that was discovered Monday in Minordy Place, an alley in the 400 block of South Arlington Street, has been identified by the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office as 13-year-old Melanie Elkins.

She appeared to be quite young, the caller stated, “about 19 or 20,” and he or she sounded distressed on the 412-minute 911 recording.

She had been reported as a runaway on Sunday, according to Akron police.

Elkins exhibited no telltale symptoms of trauma, according to the investigators. The results of an autopsy have been finished, and toxicology tests are being carried out. The medical examiner’s office warned that it might be at least two weeks before a decision is made.

Elkins was enrolled in the eighth grade at East Middle School, where he had previously completed seventh grade.
