Support Leane Flynn’s Legacy – Ovarian Cancer Awareness Advocate
We mourn the loss of Leane Flynn, a remarkable and courageous woman who valiantly battled ovarian cancer for six years while tirelessly raising awareness for this insidious disease. As an ambassador for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF), Leane played a vital role in campaigns like the Witchery White Shirt Campaign, where she stood as an inspiring advocate for ovarian cancer awareness and research.
Leane Flynn passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2023, surrounded by her devoted husband and three loving daughters. Her legacy is one of strength, resilience, and unwavering determination.
Ovarian cancer ranks as one of the most lethal gynecological cancers worldwide, and unfortunately, there exists no early detection test for this devastating illness. The symptoms are often vague and can be easily mistaken for menopausal or other reproductive issues. Leane Flynn’s own battle began in 2017 when she was diagnosed with Stage 3C ovarian cancer at the age of 49. Her journey began with the shocking revelation of two tumors, each the size of a coke can, on her ovaries and a third near her liver.
Her fight against this relentless adversary included a grueling 12-hour surgery to remove the tumors, along with portions of her bowel and uterus. Subsequently, she endured six months of chemotherapy. Despite her unwavering spirit, the cancer recurred multiple times, necessitating further treatments and participation in clinical trials. In 2022, she received the devastating news that she had mere days to live, leading her to make preparations for her own funeral. Yet, remarkably, Leane Flynn defied the odds and continued to share her powerful story and advocate for ovarian cancer research.
Leane was not only a loving mother and wife but also a cherished friend and role model who touched the lives of many. Her family expresses their profound gratitude for the outpouring of love and support they have received throughout the years. In her honor, they have committed to maintaining her Instagram account to carry forward her legacy and continue raising awareness.

I’m Leane Flynn, I was diagnosed with Stage 3C Advanced Serous Ovarian Cancer in 2017. We very quickly discovered that the cancer was incurable and that I will only live as long as the treatments work. I’ve had 9 different chemotherapy treatments during the past 6 years, but the cancer grows resistant to the chemo and the cancer comes back. In 2021 I ended up spending 3 months in hospital with the cancer growing around my bowel. After 5 surgeries in 6 days I was left with a stoma bag and told I had days left to live. We planned my funeral and I was sent home to die. Miraculously, I managed to slowly recover and I have been on chemotherapy ever since. Unfortunately, the chemo has stopped working and I’m now faced with the prospect of either finding a trial or buying medications from overseas to prolong my life. I’m desperate to live to spend more time with my husband and see my 3 beautiful daughters grow into the amazing woman I know they will become. I’ve never asked for money, in fact I have worked tirelessly as an Ambassador for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF), to raise funds and awareness for all women with ovarian cancer, but as my life is becoming increasingly precarious, any funds you feel comfortable donating would be greatly appreciated. These funds can help me spend quality time with the people I love and hopefully fund any treatments that are necessary. As always, my thanks and gratitude for your love and support is overwhelming.
Join us in honoring Leane Flynn’s memory and supporting her legacy. Your contributions can make a significant difference in advancing ovarian cancer research and ensuring that her efforts continue to shine a light on this critical cause.
