American actress and union organizer Gabrielle Anne Carteris was born on January 2, 1961. She is best known for playing Andrea Zuckerman in the hit TV show Beverly Hills, 90210.

Carteris was chosen in 2012 to serve as the executive vice president of SAG-AFTRA, a labor organization that represents more than 100,000 actors and other professionals, especially in the US. She took over as the union’s interim president on March 23, 2016, following the passing of the previous president, Ken Howard.

The national board of SAG-AFTRA chose Carteris as president on April 9, 2016, to serve out the balance of Howard’s tenure. Through a vote of the entire membership, she was re-elected to this post in August 2017 and August 2019.

In 1995, Carteris departed from the Beverly Hills, 90210 television series and launched her own talk show, Gabrielle, which ran for only one season. After her tenure on Beverly Hills, 90210, she kept up her acting and voiceover career, earning several credits in television, movies, and video games.

She made guest appearances on episodes including Touched by an Angel, King of the Hill, NYPD Blue, JAG, Criminal Minds, and N.C.I.S., among others and featured in almost a dozen television movies. She also became a well-known face on network television. She has appeared in numerous feature films as well. Carteris also provided the voice for the Motorola “Mya” intelligent assistant.
