Easton Police Chief Richard Doyle revealed that the accident unfolded around 9 a.m., with first responders discovering a damaged 2019 Ford pickup truck and a 2015 Honda Pilot off the roadway. Erin Heneghan, the driver of the Honda, was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Bridgeport Hospital. According to Doyle, a pickup truck traveling north on Route 59 collided with a large deer that entered the roadway from the right side. The impact caused the deer to go airborne, crashing into the Honda, which was traveling in the opposite direction. The deer entered the Honda’s passenger compartment, continuing through the vehicle before being ejected out through the rear window. Despite efforts to save her, Erin Heneghan succumbed to the injuries sustained in the collision. The Fairfield Accident Reconstruction Team and the Westport Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team responded to investigate the incident thoroughly.
