Ohio student Emily Nagy, who attended Brunswick Middle School, died by suicide

The tragic murders of two Brunswick High School students have affected the neighborhood of Brunswick once more.

The passion is palpable in the hallways, according to student Alexandria Bowen.

The Brunswick High School hallways are lined with supportive letters.

We learned over the weekend that one of our freshmen students had died by suicide. Then, later in the day, we learned that a senior student had also committed suicide at our school, according to Superintendent Michael Mayell.

Grief counselors were available at the high school on Tuesday.

The youngsters have already begun their programs.

Every locker in the facility has a compliment attached to it using sticky notes. They are demonstrating to children that suicide is never an option and never should be an option, Mayell continued.

The neighborhood of Brunswick is all too familiar with loss. In the last three years, the high school has lost 8 students.

“Social media has been our biggest issue recently. Several things that have been put online are false. We’ve been attempting to teach youngsters and parents that using social media responsibly and ethically is important, continued Mayell.

“I hurt for my child and this neighborhood. I’m hurt for the schools and for everyone concerned.

“, stated parent Julie Powers.

There was so much pain that a few parents created the Facebook group Not One More Death.

“Parents are attempting to work with the school to increase awareness of issues including suicide, bullying, mental illness, and advocacy. Parental advocacy, Powers continued.

For kids and teachers who need assistance dealing with their loss, grief counselors will be on hand at the school.
