Dr. Emmanuel Chang, MD – Houston, TX

Dr. Chang is a board certified ophthalmologist. He had the privilege of completing his vitreoretinal surgical fellowship at the world-renowned retinal surgical training program, Associated Retinal Consultants/William Beaumont Hospital in Michigan, under the guidance of Dr. Michael Trese, Dr. George Williams, Dr. Antonio Capone, Dr. Tarek Hassan and 6 other distinguished retina faculty. He was awarded the Heed Ophthalmic Fellowship Award and the Ronald G. Michels fellowship award, the nation’s highest honor given to a retina surgical fellow. He has participated in numerous clinical trials and received multiple research grants and is a member of the Retina Society and Association of Pediatric Retinal Surgeons.

Dr Chang specializes in all aspects of adult and pediatric vitreoretinal diseases with a particular interest in macular diseases such as puckers, macular holes and age related macular degeneration, retinal detachments, diabetic retinopathy, and vein occlusions. He also specializes in acquired/inherited pediatric retinal disorders including retinopathy of prematurity, familial exudative vitreoretinopathy, persistent fetal vasculature, Coats’ disease, congenital cataracts, and complex cataract surgeries/dislocated intraocular lenses.

His current research focus is on artificial nanophotoreceptor technologies and integrating nanotechnology within the field of ophthalmology.

He has been consistently selected by his peers as a Houston Super Doctor, Houstonia Magazine Top Doctor, as well as H-Texas Magazine Top Doctor several years in a row.

Emmanuel is fluent in English, Mandarin, and conversational Spanish. When not at work, Dr. Chang enjoys the culinary arts, activities at church, and spending time with his wife and two kids.
