He joins MUSC after completing his Vascular Surgery Integrated Residency + 2 years of dedicated research at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), where he served as Chief Resident in the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery. Prior to his training at MGH, he completed a Master of Medical Science in Clinical & Translational Research and his first 3 clinical years of Vascular Surgery Integrated Residency + 1 year of dedicated research at the University of South Florida. He earned his medical degree from Michigan State University.
He serves as a journal reviewer for the Annals of Vascular Surgery and is a co-creator of the Vascular Education Video Library Consortium – a national, multi-institutional collaboration to create a centralized resource of subspecialty lectures and educational tools for vascular trainees.
Dr. Tanious was awarded the VESS Fellow Luminaries Scholarship in 2016, 2017 and 2019; the Florida Vascular Foundation Scholarship in 2016 and 2017, and the American College of Surgeons Leadership and Advocacy Scholarship in 2016. He has received many recognitions in research, including the Dr. “JJ” Karmacharya Award - Best Research Project and Presentation at the Florida Vascular Society – 2017 Annual Meeting. He has over 40 peer-reviewed publications, and 30 presentations.
