Don Collier (born October 17, 1928) is a well-known actor who rose to prominence in the 1960s as a star of television westerns. In the 1960-1962 NBC series Outlaws, he portrayed US Marshal Will Foreman with Barton MacLane (1902–1969), Jock Gaynor (1929–1998), and Bruce Yarnell (1935–1973). In the first season of Outlaws, he served as a deputy marshal under MacLane, and in the second season, he was elevated to full marshal, with Yarnell taking his place as the new deputy. After the first season, MacLane departed the show. Collier was born in the city of Santa Monica in the state of California. When he was thirteen, his only sibling, a sister, died. Collier enlisted in the United States Navy after graduating from high school near the conclusion of World War II. Collier landed a role in the 1948 picture Massacre River after returning to California. He enrolled at Hardin-Simmons University, a Baptist-affiliated school in Abilene, Taylor County, West Texas, after receiving a football scholarship. He moved to Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, a Mormon-affiliated school where he also played football. Collier has appeared in over seventy films and television shows. He appeared with John Wayne, Robert Mitchum, Anthony Quinn, Dean Martin, Tom Selleck, James Arness, and Elvis Presley in a number of films. Following Massacre River, he appeared in films such as Fort Apache (1948) and Davy Crockett, Indian Scout (1949). (1950). Collier starred in the inaugural seasons of both CBS’s long-running Gunsmoke (1955) and NBC’s powerful western Outlaws before becoming the lead in Outlaws.
