Sadly, when he felt she questioned his loyalty at the end of series three, James left, going off with the CIA in order to try and protect her from within enemy lines.

Queen of the South fans were thrilled when James Valdez (played by Peter Gadiot) returned to the USA Network in the final few moments of series four. He will also be back for season five, so viewers have been wondering if he and Teresa (Alice Braga) are going to pick up from where they left off.

While there is no apparent motive for James to kill Teresa, it is possible that Devon had something to do with it. James could very well have been working for Devon all along and faked his love for Teresa.

Devon might have blackmailed James into doing his dirty bidding, and James would not have been in a position to refuse as suggested during Devon’s visit to James. Another possibility is that James was trying to protect Teresa, and the real sniper is someone entirely else.
