So,what if someone tried to get into your account? If someone does try to get into your account Facebook will immediately notify you of the attempt and will lock your account. With your account locked Facebook will ask you to review the login attempt.
For this matter, Facebook has a way to alert you whenever someone logs in to your Facebook account – Login Notifications. With Facebook Login Notifications enabled, you will receive a notification email or text message whenever an unauthorized login has been tracked by Facebook. The process is quite simple to understand.
Facebook recently introduced a new security feature which notifies you via SMS or email whenever someone tries to login or hack your Facebook account using another computer or device. You can enable this setting from your account settings page.
To keep tabs on who is logging in, enable Login Notifications. Each time someone logs in to your account at an unrecognized computer or mobile device, Facebook will alert you via text message or e-mail. With that information, you can end that session (see No. 3) and change your password. Screenshot by Sharon Vaknin/CNET 2. Enable log-in approvals

One such scam message that looked to be from Facebook (but wasn’t) had a subject line that claimed: “Someone tried to log in to your account.” The subject line often ended with an 8-digit ID number. Such Facebook email scams can lead to phishing, identity theft, and other dangerous outcomes.
With your account locked Facebook will ask you to review the login attempt. “Someone recently tried to log in to your account from an unrecognized device or mobile device. Because you enabled login notifications, your account is temporarily locked.”
If it prompts same message over and over, you may need to wait few days, log out and log in to your account again to enable login notifications. * After enabling login notifications, you will have to name your computer or device you use to log in to Facebook in next login.
How to set up Facebook login notifications?
To set up login notifications click here or click on the down arrow on the top right of your Facebook page and select “Account Settings” then click “Security” on the left of the screen. Next, click the “Edit” button beside “Login Notifications” and select “Email”. If you want even more security then select “Login …
Facebook will then send you an email with details of the login IP address, geolocaion, and the exact time. If it was you who logged in then you can simply ignore this email, if it wasn’t you then you can alert Facebook and change your security settings.
