He is the main vocalist of The Dan Band, a comedic group he founded that Entertainment Weekly named “the hottest ticket in Hollywood.” The live performance was captured in Los Angeles for the Bravo channel’s one-hour concert special Dan Finnerty & The Dan Band: I Am Woman, which was executive produced by Steven Spielberg and directed by McG.
In the Todd Phillips film Old School, as the wedding singer at Will Ferrell’s wedding, Finnerty became famous for his comically vulgar performance of “Total Eclipse of the Heart.” In Starsky & Hutch, Dan played the sleazy bat mitzvah singer, and in The Hangover, he returned to play the irreverent wedding singer. Steven Spielberg hired him to produce his comedy special after viewing The Dan Band and cast him in The Terminal.
