Deborah Santana is the daughter of the Saunders King and Jo Frances King. Her father is was an American R&B and blues guitarist and singer.
Deborah is a peace and social justice activist for women and people of color. She is also a business manager and an author.
Carlos and Deborah co-founded a non-profit organization called the Milagro (Miracle) Foundation. It provides financial aid for educational, medical, and other needs.

They got married in 1973. Later on October 19, 2007, Deborah filed for divorce after 34 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences.
