Bryce Melvin, 28, passed away on December 19, 2022, leaving behind grieving family and friends.

There are many people who knew and loved him, including his parents Terry and Joan Melvin, his siblings Ryan Melvin, Tara (Sam) Mason, and Connor (Lauren Hjelmaas) Melvin, his nephew Liam Mason and niece Tilly Mason, and hundreds of friends and extended family members. His grandfather and grandmother, Thomas and Anne McKeegan, as well as his parents, Dick and Claire Melvin, and his uncle, Rik Melvin, have all passed away before him.

Bryce was born with a full head of black hair and the cutest, most chubby face at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto, California. Joan was sworn to secrecy by his grandmother Anne, but she revealed that he was the most handsome Melvin baby.

Before moving to Eugene, Oregon with his three older siblings, he spent the first three years of his life in the San Francisco Bay Area. Since he spent so much time in the car seat being transported to everyone else’s activities, his mother treated herself to a luxurious shearling papoose. Until he tried soccer, which he abandoned after two seasons because it was “just a lot of running around chasing a ball.” By the time we figured out he needed glasses, he had already given baseball a shot and was doing pretty well. He then took up basketball, where he suffered a knee injury that eventually left him with a Nike swish scar. He was a huge sports fan, but he was always better at watching than participating.

When Bryce was just starting middle school, his family relocated to Overland Park, Kansas. His educational background includes time spent at Blue Valley Northwest, Blue Valley West High School, and the University of Kansas. Since his sibling Connor had already dabbled in the field of business as a minor, he felt compelled to go all the way. In Lawrence, he helped establish the Sigma Pi fraternity. After finishing college, he joined his father at Arrow Acquisition as a project manager.

Bryce’s top priorities in life included spending time with his loved ones, exploring the outdoors, appreciating abstract art, and going to concerts. His vast group of friends were treated like family by him, and he was always there for them through the good times and the bad.

Bryce was the type of person who would approach anyone and ask them a series of questions, because he was always eager to make new friends and learn new things. He had a genuine interest in learning new things and a caring nature. Do you know the expression “be a sponge”? Bryce said that. Super intelligent as well.
