Henry was found guilty of first-degree murder and armed burglary, which carries mandatory life terms without the possibility of release.

Jones’ first trial took only 90 minutes for the jury in Circuit Judge Robert L. Pegg’s courtroom to reach unanimous guilty verdicts on both charges.

On April 12, 2017, justices from Florida’s 4th District Court of Appeal ordered a new trial, stating that Pegg had interrogated potential jurors on their attitudes about interracial violence in a restricted way.

Jones is black, while Simpson, the victim, is white, according to the appeals court.

The culprit will spend the rest of his life in prison after a 12-person jury unanimously convicted him.
