Robert Hunter Caldwell was an American singer, composer, and musician who lived from August 15, 1951, until March 14, 2023.

He issued a number of albums in the R&B, jazz, soul, and adult contemporary genres.

He is renowned for his deep, flexible voice. In 1978, Caldwell debuted his hallmark song “What You Won’t Do for Love,” which became a hit single, off his double platinum first album Bobby Caldwell.

Bob Caldwell and Carolyn Caldwell gave birth to Bobby Caldwell on 15th August 1951.

Bobby Caldwell was raised in Miami, Florida, despite being born in Manhattan. Bob Marley, a reggae artist, was one of his mother’s clients while she was a real estate agent, and the two men grew close. Caldwell was exposed to a wide range of music while growing up in Miami, including R&B, reggae, Latin, and Haitian.

After releasing numerous CDs of smooth jazz and R&B, Caldwell started performing Great American Songbook classics.

He composed several songs for various musicians, including Amy Grant and Peter Cetera’s “The Next Time I Fall,” which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Hip-hop and R&B musicians commonly sample Caldwell’s songs.
