French actress Audrey Tautou was born on August 9, 1976. At the age of 18, she made her acting debut on television. A year later, in 1999, she made her feature film debut in Venus Beauty Institute, for which she won the César Award for Most Promising Actress.
Tautou received widespread appreciation for her performance as the title character in the critically acclaimed and financially successful 2001 movie Amélie. Since then, she has acted in a variety of movies, including the romantic comedy Priceless (2006), the thrillers The Da Vinci Code (2006) and Dirty Pretty Things (2002). She received praise for her performance in the 2004 play A Very Long Engagement, which is set during World War I.
